The famous French actor Gérard Depardieu is about to face the music in court over accusations of sexual assault.

French actor Gerard Depardieu is set to stand trial in October following allegations of sexual assault, as confirmed by the Paris prosecutor’s office to CNN on Monday. The incidents reportedly occurred during the filming of the movie “Les Volets Verts” in September 2021, although the individuals involved were not named by the prosecutor’s office.

In addition to these allegations, Depardieu is also under formal investigation for suspicions of rape and sexual assault against actress Charlotte Arnould, dating back to August 2018, according to the prosecutor’s office. This isn’t the first time Depardieu has faced such accusations, as several women have previously filed complaints against him. Despite these allegations, the actor vehemently denies any wrongdoing.

CNN has sought comment from Depardieu’s legal team regarding the upcoming trial. Earlier on Monday, the actor was taken into police custody in Paris for questioning. According to BFMTV, Depardieu presented himself at a police station in Paris to address allegations of sexual assault purportedly occurring on film sets.

Depardieu, renowned for his performances in movies such as “Green Card,” “The Man in the Iron Mask,” and “Life of Pi,” received an Oscar nomination in 1991 for his portrayal in “Cyrano de Bergerac.” Additionally, in 2013, he made headlines by obtaining Russian citizenship from Vladimir Putin, citing opposition to French government plans to raise taxes on the wealthiest individuals as his reason for renouncing his French passport.
