Oscar-Winner Judi Dench’s Bad Vision Could Kill Movie Career… After 60 Years in Biz

Judi Dench may not have much of a future as an actor after 60 years in the business, and it’s all due to her terrible vision, according to Judi herself.

Last Monday, the 89-year-old cinema star attended the Chelsea Flower Show in London, when a journalist inquired about any upcoming projects.

Dench reportedly responded, “No, no.” “I can’t even see.”

While her statement may surprise some, it is no secret that Dench has been losing her vision for years. In 2012, she was diagnosed with advanced macular degeneration, a disease that can cause serious loss of central vision.

Dench revealed during an appearance on “The Graham Norton Show” in 2023 that she was having difficulty reading her lines from her movie scripts.

She continued, “It has become impossible and because I have a photographic memory, I need to find a machine that not only teaches me my lines but also tells me where they appear on the page.”

“I used to find it very easy to learn lines and remember them,” she remarked. “I could do the whole of ‘Twelfth Night’ right now.”

However, her visual problems began much earlier… in 2021, the Oscar winner revealed that she was asking her pals to read her lines aloud to help her with her film parts.

Still, it’s not all bad news for JD; she was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in “Belfast” in 2022, indicating that she’s still capable of delivering a strong performance.

That same year, she appeared in the Christmas picture “Spirited,” which starred Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds. However, it appears that retirement may be her only option at this point.
