A security guard linked to Drake was shot outside the rapper’s Toronto home during the ongoing rift with Kendrick Lamar.

In the wee hours of Tuesday, Drake’s Toronto mansion became the unexpected stage for a drive-by shooting. Despite the turmoil, the Canadian rap icon emerged unscathed and is fully cooperating with authorities as they probe the incident, still shrouded in mystery.

Toronto Police, through a post on X (formerly Twitter), detailed the shooting’s aftermath at the intersection of Bayview Avenue and Lawrence Avenue in the prestigious Bridle Path district. One individual was gravely wounded and rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital for urgent care.

At a press conference outside Drake’s abode, Inspector Paul Krawczyk of the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force revealed that officers responded to the scene shortly after 2 a.m. on Tuesday, discovering a young man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The individual, seemingly a security guard at the residence, was outside the gates when the shooting occurred,” Officer Krawczyk noted. He added that the motive for the drive-by shooting is currently unknown.

Krawczyk also mentioned that security footage from Drake’s house captured the incident. “We have identified individuals involved in the shooting, seen in a vehicle. However, we currently lack descriptions of the vehicle or suspects. It’s still early in the investigation,” he said.

Regarding Drake’s presence during the incident, Krawczyk couldn’t confirm but mentioned that Drake’s team is cooperating with the investigation.

The shooting incident coincides with reports of a feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. The tensions escalated after Drake released “The Heart Part 6,” responding to some of Lamar’s recent allegations.

While acknowledging the feud between Drake and Lamar, Krawczyk emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages, with motives yet to be determined. Toronto police will canvass the neighborhood for witnesses and additional footage.
